Hey loveliess, I hope you’re all warm and well!
Today I thought I’d share with you an easy beginners guide to colour correcting. It’s a topic I’ve been asked about a few times but didn’t know much about. Before I done my research I also wondered why anyone would want to put green on there face.. but there’s a very good reason, and I’ll share that with you now.
Palette of choice.
I picked up the NYX colour correcting palette after reading some good reviews on it and thought I’d give it a whirl. This product works for me and my skin tone really well. I believe there’s another palette for darker complexions too so there’s something for everyone.
What exactly is colour correcting?
Colour correcting is basically camouflage for your problem area’s, to counteract any discolouration and create an even skin base for foundation.
YELLOW- Cancels out any purple or blue tones in the skin, so if you have any obvious veins or bruises use a yellow based concealer to correct the issue.
GREEN- counteracts any redness so it’s the perfect way to cover any spots, blemishes and skin irritations. The green in my palette gets used frequently when I have breakouts.
PURPLE- conceals any yellow tones in the skin, if you’re feeling under the weather and you’ve a dull looking complextion, a purple based primer or concealer will give you a healthier looking skin tone
PINK- using pale pink shades under the eyes will disguise any dark circles and give a more radiant appearance.
PEACH- designed for someone lucky enough to have hardly any issues with there skin, can be used as a usual concealer colour to brighten any area’s of the face. I use this around the centre of my face to balance out my contour.
BROWN- Paler skin tones like myself should probably steer clear of this shade as it’s for people with a more tanned skin tone to cancel out any redness.
