Hey lovelies, I hope you’re all warm and well!
Now that I’m nearing the end of pregnancy, I thought it’d be fun to do a little pregnancy Q&A. I took to Instagram stories and left the option for you guys to ask me absolutely anything about pregnancy. I got quite a lot of questions so I will do my best to answer them all as best and honestly as I can. Let’s jump straight in!
Q- What has been your favourite part about pregnancy so far?
A- Not gonna lie, it’s been quite a rough journey, but there have been some lovely moments. The first time I felt his movements was really special. I love feeling him wriggling around in there and once he’s out it’ll be something I miss. I’ve also really enjoyed creating his little nursery room. From painting it, to organising all his clothes, it’s been a really lovely focus. Watching my house fill up with baby items has been surreal and I can’t wait until he arrives
Q- Which buggy did you go for, and why?
A- Many, many hours were spent looking into different travel systems, prams, and buggies. I wanted something that was practical for us, so we opted for a travel system. The convenience of being able to clip his carseat on the frame, but also have the option for carry cot and seat made sense to me. We decided on the Maxi-cosi stella travel system which included the cabriofix car seat. It’s so easy to put up and down, fairly lightweight and looks good too. We got it in black because that seemed like the most practical colour.
Q- Are you nervous about giving birth?
A- Honestly, I was. One of the first thoughts I had after the positive test was ‘omg, how am I gonna push out a small human’. Fear of the unknown played a roll in assisting my worries, so I made sure I took the time out to educate myself on how the body works in labour, and all the different options of giving birth. Alongside that, I read a really great book from ‘The positive birth company’ that I 100% recommend! It’s helped put my mind at ease and given me the confidence that I can (and kinda have to) do this.
Q- Are you having a baby shower?
Lucky for me, I’m having two. On the 4th May, I had a small family baby shower which was so lovely. Little man got very spoilt and we’re very grateful for all the love and generosity. I’m also having a meal out with the girls from work before I begin maternity leave which I’m sure will be equally as lovely.
Q- Least enjoyable things about pregnancy
A- In the beginning it was the sickness. Multiple times a day I’d find myself on the bathroom floor, head in the toilet, vomiting my entire existence away. That went away around 16 weeks and I had a good few weeks of niceness. At our 20 week scan, we found out baby has Multi-cystic dysplastic kidney which was soul destroying and something I still struggle with now. Also being recently diagnosed with gestational diabetes was pretty shit and I’ve had to majorly alter my diet to try and keep my blood sugars at a safe and stable level.
Q- Do you think you’ll have anymore children?
A- Absolutely not. Pregnancy has been so hard (I know once he’s here it wont matter) and it’s really put me off. I know every pregnancy is different but I don’t feel like I wanna do this again. We’ve both said we only wanted one and I’m happy with just one. Never say never, but as it stands we’ll be a cute little family of three.
Q- Where have you got your baby clothes from?
A- 90% of babies clothes are from the supermarkets. Mainly ASDA and Morrisons. They do some really lovely clothing that’s decent quality for such reasonable prices. I figured there’s no point spending loads of money on baby clothes because they grow so quickly and will only sick or shit on them anyway. I love all the baby clothes I’ve bought him or been gifted. Everything is washed and organised now, ready for his arrival.
Q- What have been your pregnancy essentials
A- I’m planning on doing a separate post on this so I won’t go into too much detail. Couldn’t live without my giant pregnancy pillow, a water bottle, over the bump leggings, E45 cream and a comfortable bra.
Gonna end this post here. Thank you to everyone who sent a question, if there’s anything more you wanna know, feel free to drop a comment below. Hope you’ve enjoyed this little pregnancy Q&A. Keep your eyes peeled for more baby content soon.
