Testing Oval brushes

December 6, 2017

Hey lovelies, I hope you’re all warm and well!
A few months back, it seemed like oval brushes took over the beauty world. For some people, changed the way they do their makeup. I didn’t really follow the trend,  I was quite content with my makeup application and tools I used. My friend told me recently that she has been obsessed with using oval brushes to do her base makeup. I thought to myself, maybe I should give these a go. I was lucky enough to work with My make up brush set on this post. They sent me over one of their best selling oval brush sets to try. I’m not gonna lie, these brushes are very different to the ones I usually use. I did need to do my research on what brushes do what and I think I get it now.

BASE BRUSHES:

Foundation wise, I usually use the miracle sponge from Real Techniques to blend. Instead I opted for the larger of the oval brushes and blended the foundation all over. Having quite a small face it took no time at all to blend my foundation and it was much easier on the neck area than my usual sponge. To conceal I apply the product with the wand, then blended with a smaller oval brush. it comes in so In terms of powder, I picked up the second to large brush to set my face and it did a pretty good job. Contour I used the thin long brush to define those cheek bones and a smaller oval to blend out any harshness. It was quite easy blending out the contour line and done within seconds! For highlight I usually use a fluffy brush and these oval brushes are all quite dense so I didn’t try them for highlight.

EYE BRUSHES:

I found the eye brushes quite tricky to use, they seemed to be either to chunky or to thin and it was hard trying to blend shades together seamlessly, but I kept trying. After a few tries I was able to get the hang of it. Just seemed more complicated than my usual brushes. Although the short thin brush was great for highlighting my inner corners and cupids bow. Perhaps with more practice I can be persuaded with the others, but until then, it’s a no from me.

Verdict?

Oval brushes are a bit hit and miss for me. The bristles on these are super soft and they look really pretty as a set but I’m not sure on the practicalities of some of them. Face wise, I’d use these brushes again because it was super quick and easy. In terms of eye brushes, I think I will stick to my usual brushes for now.

Juvias place Nubian two palette – Worth the hype?

December 3, 2017

Hey lovelies, I hope you’re all warm and well!
I’m sure you’ve all seen this brand floating around the internet. With amazing reviews from top beauty guru’s, this brand has become one of the most hyped cosmetics brands of the time. I’ve read the reviews, seen the swatches and drooled over these seemingly amazing palettes for a long time now. I thought it was high time I picked one up myself and find out, is it worth the hype? The Juvias place Nubian two palette is now mine, and I can already tell it is going to get a lot of use!

Swatches and application:

So, I managed to bag myself this 12 shade eye shadow palette from Juvias place on beauty bay for just £18 (Reduced from £30.00) in the black Friday sale, BARGAIN! It seemed like such a good offer, I couldn’t let it pass me by. I was super excited when I got the notification to tell me it was ready for collect, couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. After frantically tearing open the box, I immediately took to swatching all the shades. Naturally I was drawn to the warm shimmer shades and they didn’t disappoint.  I was a little shook at the pigmentation of the shimmers, my swatches seem to go on forever and the colour was solid! This palette is very versatile, there’s a colour to suit everyone and so many pretty looks can be created from this palette.

As you can see above, the shades and swatches are INSANE! Each shadow felt super soft and creamy and they all applied nicely to my eyes. No problem blending these shadows and the colours distribute and defuse evenly across the lid. In terms of lasting power, I found these to last all night, without setting spray! Not only is this palette incredibly aesthetically pleasing but every shadow performs amazingly! Due to the rich, luscious pigment in the shadows, I think these will pop on all skin tones so it’s perfect for everyone!
Packaging wise the palettes are light, sleek and bold and beautiful. Each palette comes boxed and inside there’s a protective plastic sheet to prevent smashing. It’s also worth mentioning that Juvias place palettes are vegan and cruelty free too!

Is the Juvias place Nubian two palette worth the hype?

ABSOLUTELY! My experience with this palette has been nothing but amazing and I can’t wait to get my paws on some more! I totally understand the hype behind this brand. If you’re looking for super pigmented, stunning shadows for such an affordable price, I couldn’t recommend this enough!!
Grabs yours from beauty bay before they sell out.

Benefit VS Milani || Mascara dupes

October 30, 2017

Hey lovelies, I hope you’re warm and well!
I do love finding a good bargain, something that works really well for me and doesn’t break the bank. I was browsing the Beauty base for some a new mascara and stumbled across two that look very familiar. Now, I swear by benefit mascaras but sometimes I just don’t have a spare £20 to replace my well loved tubes. That’s where I struck lucky. The two I ended up getting had wands almost identical to the “Roller Lash” and “They’re real” and cost half the price. Could these be benefit mascara dupes?

September 30, 2017

Hey lovelies, I hope you’re all warm and well!
These days it isn’t uncommon to see a lot of celeb’s launching their own makeup lines and collaborating with brands on cool new products for us to lustre after. Being no exception, Dame Joan Collins launched her “Timeless Beauty” range in 2014. Aiming to not only inspire women, but to provide them with the tools to feel beautiful at any age. With that beautiful concept in mind, lets dive in to some of the Divine lips lipsticks.
The Divine lips lipstick range was inspired by previous iconic characters Dame Joan has played throughout her ever so successful acting career and I love that she’s added that personal touch to the collection.

“Alexis” – A beautiful deep burgundy shade that is perfect for day or night
“Marilyn” – A gorgeous pinky terracotta shade that suits almost every skin tone.  [Read more…]
